Wadi Bani Khalid Oasis

I have been to this place once and I will never get tired of coming here. The Wadi Bani Khalid Oasis is located at the Sharqiyah Region of the Sultanate of Oman.

We left the comfort of our home in Ibra early in the morning to avoid the rush and the scorching summer sun and arrived at the place after about half an hour drive.

Here are some photos we snapped along the way:

The beauty of the place never fail to cast its charm upon me. The rock formations were so beautiful and photo worthy.

Five minutes walk from where we parked our car and we got a glimpse of the first pools of water.

The clean waters look very inviting, the children wanted to dive right into the first pool that we saw, but since I am a second timer, I know a better place. Another half kilometre of trekking and we were at an ideal place for picnic. So kids, we walk…

Now, we are here. Clear, cool water. Fresh air. Beautiful sights. Nature’s beauty at its best.

Swimming time.

Let me explain this picture. The guy on the rocks is a stranger, looking over us. The children in the water are looking down at the small fishes that abound in the water. The two guys on the left are enjoying a free fish spa treatment.

This place has some trees for shade, a water pool with depths of about three feet for the kids as well as a portion that is deep enough for the adults.It is still early so we had the place for us almost exclusively.

The kids enjoyed the water so much and they did not stop swimming until they can’t manage the coldness of the water.

We left the place by 10:00 am just as some other tourists are coming. And yes, as always, a group photo is a must.

Utoy is not there if you noticed. Well, he’s down there. Still mad because we have to leave while it’s still so early.

By the way, here are some tips for those who are planning to go there:

• The place gets crowded from 2:00pm almost daily so plan accordingly.
• Bring large towels for use when changing wet clothes. You have to do that behind some boulders, so privacy is not so guaranteed.
• Feel free to greet the locals who are genuinely friendly to everyone. They are more than willing to assist you if you are in need.
• Bring your own food since no shops are near the place.
• Do not forget to bring your camera nor carry a smartphone with empty battery. You will miss the chance of taking world class selfies. Like this one here:
